Dugie was born in Coquille, Oregon and raised in Powers.  The family moved to Curry County in1955.  He graduated Gold Beach Union High School in 1959. Dugie married his wife, Shirley, in 1970. For 37 years Dugie was co-owner of Freeman Marine Equipment building doors and hatch windows for all types of vessels from commercial vessels to mega yachts and military vessels.  Products were sold in 51 countries around the world.  The company was sold in 2011 and he retired.  Dugie has been a member of Rotary of Gold Beach since 1972, served four years on the Ophir School board, on Curry Health District board for eight years, four years as chair.  Mainly involved with the Gold Beach Senior Center and Gold Beach High School Scholarship program now.  Serves on the Curry Health Foundation Board of Directors.
